Credit Changes to Debit Cards

Consumers realise that credit cards have a high interest rate and that they can no longer go out and spend as much as they want. This realisation may be a little too late for some card holders, but for others it could be a great thing. The recession in Ireland combined with the high rate of credit card debts and lower income have made changes a necessity.

For many consumers in Ireland this means using debit cards over their credit cards. While the stress is there to use a pay later system, the consumers are trying to avoid such a thing. The debit card use is up by several percentage points in the US, UK, Ireland, and Europe. While the credit card debt is still higher than in years the number of transactions is becoming limited.

The changes in credit to the use of debit cards could be the save many families need. These families have decided they must do without the unnecessary items, and will only use their income to pay down debts as well as get the commodities like food and gas. They are no longer shopping for clothes, luxury items, and other options. Hopefully this change will last, but the holidays are approaching.
