MBNA Dublin GAA Visa Credit Card

Supporting your county and games is very important to some individuals.  This is one of the reasons that MBNA decided to offer the Dublin GAA card, at least it appears this way.  We are going to look over the offer from MBNA to see what the rewards are for you to have this card and you can decide from there if it is worth having it in your wallet.

The Dublin GAA card supports Dublin and the Gaelic Games at the county level.  It does this by offering the card to consumers and then MBNA makes contributions to the county.  Basically when you obtain the card MBNA sends a contribution to Dublin County.  Then as you make further purchases they make more donations.  The donations are no cost to you.

There are other benefits with this card that you may find to be right up your alley.  You have the balance transfer introductory deal.  This deal states that you have 1.9 percent APR for the first six months you have the card.  The deal starts on the date that the card account is opened and not when you receive the card.  You can transfer as much as the card limit will allow and pay that rate.  There is a balance transfer handling fee for most cards, so you might want to double check with MBNA as it is not clear about their charges for balance transfers on the site.

After the introductory deal is over you will pay 16.9 percent for any other transfers.  This is the same rate offered on purchases.  While it is not the best rate on the market, it is a pretty great rate.  There are only a handful of cards with a better rate around 14.9 percent.  The rate is a standard variable rate option.  This means that the rate can change at any time for any reason stated in the agreement for the card.  The card does have universal default as well.

Along with the purchase rate, balance transfer option, and rewards for Dublin there is the 127,000 Euro free travel accident insurance.  The amount is what you will be covered for, for free, through the card in case of an accident while travelling.  This is a pretty good option.  You also have security against fraud and fraud protection meaning if your card is stolen you can be safe from paying any amount charged according to the rules of the consumer credit act.

There is a period of 58 days in which you can have free interest.  To earn such an option you need to pay your balance on time and in full every month.  You would want to do this anyway so you are not charged the 16.9 percent and reaping the rewards of the card in a better light to you.  There is no annual fee with this card, but there is a government tax that must be paid every year.  Overall we have found this card is good for its purpose and if that fits with you, then it is a good card to have.
