MBNA IATI Credit Card

The Institute of Accounting Technicians or IATI was first started in 1983.  It has become a leading expert in the accounting field for Ireland.  The institute offers information on accounting as well as skill based learning.  Knowing that they are dedicated to making the education worthwhile may entice you to get the MBNA IATI credit card to support their needs.  The best thing is you get to show your pride in going to the institute with the card and MBNA is going to be making contributions.  How it works is that when you open an account for the IATI card they will offer a certain percentage back to IATI.  When you make retail transactions MBNA will also offer a certain percent to IATI.  You are without any cost to you supporting the institute so that it can offer education to offers.

There are other benefits with the card that are pretty standard, but may have a bearing on whether you want the card or not.  You see most cards have the standard offers, but it is the specifics that set them apart as we have found in doing other reviews.  If you are a CPA and went to the institute or have children going there this is a good card to have.

The other benefits include an introductory balance transfer option for 1.9 percent interest during the first six months you have the card.  This period starts on the date the account is opened.  After that time period the balance transfer rate reverts back to the 14.9 percent interest rate.

The 14.9 percent APR is a standard variable interest rate and below the average.  Most cards offered have an interest rate of 16.9 percent APR.  This is one perk of having the card that you will receive.  The rate is based on risk assessment and qualifications which means it is the lowest amount they offer, but not necessarily what you will be awarded for having the card.  They also decide what credit limit they will offer.  This can be as low as 250 Euros and up.

There is security on the card against fraud as well as for online fraud protection.  It is a free service they must provide under the consumer credit act and therefore all other cards will have the same fraud protection.

On purchases you can earn 58 days of interest free when you pay your balance in full and on time each month.  This is helpful if you are trying to save money and can afford to pay the amount off.

As you can see from our review the card is fairly standard.  The benefit comes in supporting the IATI at no cost to you personally.  MBNA is the one making the donations and if you pay off the card every month you don’t even get charged interest.  It is a good deal if this sort of thing interests you, but there are other and perhaps better deals if you want flight miles, cash back or different rewards.
