MBNA World Vision Credit Card

World Vision is a charity that was established in 1983.  Since its establishment those behind the charity have been providing glasses to children in poverty areas.  They are offering their help so that someone who couldn’t see can now see and be comfortable.  The World Vision programme works mostly in Africa throughout the different countries.  If you are a person looking to make a difference in someone’s life or a lot of lives then the MBNA World Vision card would be something for you to consider.

MBNA will make a contribution to the charity when you open an account with this card.  MBNA will make further donations when you make purchases using the card.  These donations don’t cost you anything.  That is a pretty good deal from the standpoint of a review.  If you are helping someone, and there is no cost to you that’s really something better than earning flight miles.  That is of course my opinion, and you don’t have to share it.  So, we will also look at other benefits that may make this review look more favourable to you.

From the date the account is open you have six months of 1.9 percent APR on balance transfers.  This is shorter term than other cards on the market that have a balance transfer option.  Most of those are 12 months with zero percent interest for residents in the UK.  It is still a favourable option.  Some cards don’t offer a balance transfer break at all.  There is still the handling fee to transfer though.

Next you have a 14.9 percent APR on purchases and regular balance transfers. This is about the lowest annual percentage rate that you can find right now.  While it is standard and variable it is a good rate.  It is even better with the special offer.  When you pay your card on time and in full every month you get 58 days of free interest.  In other words if you never carry a balance on the card from month to month you won’t be charged interest.  On top of the charity donation that is pretty descent.  All cards have this option of not paying interest, so it is a perk on top of the real perk for having this card.

They offer travel accident insurance that is free and covers up to 300,000 Euros.  That is a very high amount considering other card offers even from MBNA.  They also provide fraud protection.

This card has the same fees on withdrawals, late charges, and missed payment fees.  These are pretty standard among all credit cards and not something to consider, as much as other terms and conditions.

Overall this card is specific.  It helps bring vision to children in need living in Africa.  It is the only card like it that I know of.  That makes it a little special, and for those looking to help someone out it is a good card to have. Like all cards it has its traps, but knowing that makes it a good card to have.
